[Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia] – EU-funded projects, All for YOUth, YOUth for All, as well as the Sustainable Plastic Recycling in Mongolia successfully participated in recent Update Festival 2023. The event, held at National Amusement Park on 24-25 June, provided an ideal platform for Caritas Czech Republic and its partner organisations to showcase its commitment to youth empowerment, volunteering, and environmental sustainability.
All for YOUth, YOUth for All, a youth-centered project, captivated attendees with a range of exciting activities. The expo area hosted an interactive giant board game and a vibrant wall of experiences, offering a unique and engaging opportunity for young individuals to explore their potential, connect with like-minded peers, and learn about the importance of volunteerism and overall youth well-being.
The Sustainable Plastic Recycling in Mongolia project collaborated with the renowned Removement team to create a remarkable installation called #RETHINK. This eye-shaped maze, constructed entirely from 3 tons of waste materials, including plastic, glass, fabric, and metal, caught the attention of festival-goers and prompted them to reevaluate their consumerist lifestyle and rethink their waste production.
"We wanted to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic waste on our environment and challenge the prevailing consumerist mindset," stated Urangoo Ider, project leader of Removement said. "The overwhelming response from the audience demonstrated the urgent need for sustainable solutions and sparked vital conversations about responsible waste management."
