[Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia] - The Erdem Hackathon 2023, an exciting event aimed at fostering the creation of innovative products and services while supporting the introduction of intellectual property and entrepreneurial ideas into the socio-economic landscape was successfully organized on June 5, 2023. This event was a part of the "Mongolian Innovation Week 2023," a week-long celebration of ingenuity and progress, running from May 30 to June 6, 2023. Hackathon’s conclusion was a demo day, showcasing the remarkable projects that emerge.
The first place of the Erdem Hackathon 2023 was claimed by the "Artemis" project team, which introduced a face mask made with mugwort essence, earning them a prize of 20 million MNT. The "Eco Light Concrete" project, showcasing cement-free concrete, secured second place and was awarded a prize of 10 million MNT. In third place, the "Metacog" company, which use AI technology to determine the possible employee’s personality and made hiring process much easier, was granted a 5 million MNT award.
Erdem Hackathon 2023 has designated priority sectors of innovation activities, including IT, new material technology, biotechnology/industrial technology, renewable energy technology, and cultural innovation and creative production with national characteristics. The event has successfully attracted a myriad of talented researchers, development experts, and entrepreneurs from universities, academic institutions, and the private sector. These participants bring forth research results and intellectual property ready for implementation in real-life scenarios and production.
At the event, Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science Enkh-Amgalan Ch. praised the unique innovative ideas and effective partnerships created during the Hackathon, he said: "The person who gives the best advice makes the most mistakes. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, try, study, fail and gain experience.'' Erdem Hackathon 2023 is jointly organised by the Ministry of Education and Science, Mongolian Academy of Sciences, University of Finance and Economics, Erdenet Science and Technology Park, Startup Mongolia, and the "All for YOUth, YOUth for All" project, which is funded by the European Union.
This year, Erdem Hackathon 2023 boasts the participation of 23 exceptional projects. As an addition, Ts. Barkhas, the winner of the Apprentice show and the CEO of Ard Securities, Z. Bilegbaatar, the founder of "Startup Mongolia" NGO, and previous winners of the hackathon will provide individual training to the project contestants. His expertise will focus on enhancing their ability to successfully pitch business ideas and projects, as well as refining their public speaking skills.
