Regional Networking Event

On 21st and 22nd November 2019, the Regional Networking Event organised by SWITCH-Asia SCP Facility took place in Hanoi, Vietnam at Pullman Hanoi Hotel. The event brought together 22 representatives from all the ongoing grant-funded projects in several countries in the region, as well as over 100 representatives of the EU Delegations in Asia and Central Asia, SWITCH-Asia National Focal Points within ministries of these countries, and selected regional and international organizations, partners and experts working in the field of SCP.

The European Union supports Mongolia in responding to pressing human rights issues throughout the country. Five new project will address violence against children, women’s participation in decision – making in agriculture, empowering youth and assistant herders. All this project will contribute to the protection and promotion of human rights in Mongolia.

Micro Projects-Pitch day

Caritas Czech Republic and The Asia Foundation invited young people, innovators and influencers in their community aged between 18 and 30 to participate in a call for micro project proposals on 3R (reduce, reuse and recycle). The first round of the competition was completed on 13 September. The second round was held on the 21st of October and the participants from the first round, who did not get funding, and projects from rural areas were invited to present their ideas.

Open day event by the Government of Mongolia

The Government of Mongolia organised an “Open Day” event in which the respective Ministries introduced their project to the public on September 16-27, 2019 on the Sukhbaatar Square. Big investments and developments in Government Action Plan 2016-2020 have been presented with news and information provided to the citizens. It allowed the Government to have direct communication with the citizens by acquiring feedbacks and comments on the ongoing project and activities.

Builders’ day

Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) in Mongolia joined in Builders’ Day, which was organized on the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of the establishment of the construction sector in Mongolia on the 6th of September in order to introduce the project to the relevant parties and promote the activities accomplished under the project on improving Construction and demolition waste (CDW) management in Mongolia. The project team displayed project outputs including study books, reports, handouts, brochures and samples of CDW-based product.

Equipment Installation Ceremony at MUST

The opening ceremony of equipment installation and renovated construction materials laboratory took place on the 30th of May 2019 at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST). The new equipment and laboratory renovation have been financed from the project ‘Improving resource-efficiency and cleaner production in the Mongolian construction sector through materials recovery’ implemented with the support of the European Union and Czech Development Agency. The ceremony was opened by Prof. Ochirbat, President of MUST, Ms Ninjgarav,  Director of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Ms Jana Zilkova, Head of Mission of Caritas Czech Republic and Mr Pierre-Yves Lucas, EU Cooperation Team Leader of the EU Delegation in Mongolia.

Working Group Meetings: Development of Legal Framework on Waste Management in Mongolia

In the first months of 2019, Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) in Mongolia established a Working Group (WG) in order to develop, improve and eventually approve regulations on construction and demolition waste management. The WG was established under the project ‘Improving resource-efficient and cleaner production in the Mongolian construction sector through materials recovery’, which supports sustainable consumption and production in Mongolia and efficiency in the construction sector.
