Uyanga: A story of green lifestyle

Waste management has become a major issue in Mongolia due to increased population growth, urbanization and industrialization during the last decade. Caritas is helping Mongolia with sustainable plastic recycling and supports the development of a green economy. Its new project aims to strengthen the transition towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient circular economy in Mongolia with the financial support of the European Union.

Transition Promotion Program - Support of youth and civil society in Mongolia

Transition Promotion Program’s project to increase the capacities of youth-focused CSOs and young people of Mongolia has been successfully implemented by Caritas Czech Republic with its two local partner-organizations Mongolian Youth Council (MYC) and Centre for Citizenship Education (CCE) in 2020. The project ‘Support of youth and civil society in Mongolia’ was co-financed by the Transition Promotion Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and implemented as part of "All for YOUth, YOUth for All" project that is funded by the European Union (EU). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic contributed 424,282 CZK to support the project activities.

The Three King's moneyboxes unsealed – 80 million collected. Thank you!

The donations from the Three King's moneyboxes have been counted and its total amount reached 52,3 million. The online carolling on the website of the collection brought another almost 24 million and over 4 million came through generous donor DMS. In total, this year’s Three Kings Collection brought almost 80,3 million for those in need. The carolling is not over yet. You can support the collection online or by DMS until the end of April.

Mongolia is Surfing the “Renovation Wave” through Construction Materials Recovery

Mongolia is the 19th largest country in the world by area, however, its population of just 3.29 million, also makes it the world’s most sparsely populated country. Since the 1990 democratic revolution, 40% of Mongolia’s population migrated to the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, resulting in an increasing demand for new housing and the booming of the construction industry, rapidly expanding until this day. Existing buildings are, however, not resource efficient, with many relying on fossil fuels for heating and cooling and old technologies and wasteful appliances in their operations.

CALL FOR TENDER: TRAINING AND LEARNING NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) in Mongolia is implementing the EU-funded project “Sustainable Plastic Recycling in Mongolia” in partnership with Environment and Security of Center (ESCM), TG Masaryk Water Research Institute (WRI), Mongolian Sustainable Development Bridge (MSDB) and Ecosoum (ES). The main objective of the project is to contribute to economic prosperity and poverty reduction and support the development of a green economy and the transition towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient and circular economy in Mongolia. The specific objectives of the project are to promote sustainable production and consumption (SCP) patterns by supporting SMEs and MSMEs in adopting SCP practices, and to create an enabling environment to strengthen the implementation of national SCP policies and assist stakeholders in harvesting the benefits of SCP.
